Bite by Night Wiki

Game Mechanics

Understanding Bite by Night's core mechanics is essential for both Survivors and Killers. This guide covers every gameplay system.

Round Structure

Each round starts at midnight (12 AM) and the Survivors must survive until 6 AM. The in-game clock progresses in real-time, with each round lasting several minutes. Survivors win by escaping through exits or surviving until 6 AM. The Killer wins by eliminating all Survivors before time runs out.

Generator System

Generators are objectives scattered across the map that Survivors must interact with. Completing generators can unlock exits, power up certain map features, or provide other advantages. The Killer can patrol generators to find and hunt Survivors.

Exit Mechanics

Each map has a set number of exits (1-3 depending on the map). Exits may need to be powered or unlocked before use. Once an exit is open, Survivors can escape through it. The Forest and The Warehouse have 1 exit; The Pizzeria has 3 exits.

Health & Downed State

Survivors have a health pool that depletes when hit by the Killer. When health reaches zero, the Survivor enters a downed state. Downed Survivors can be revived by teammates (Medic heals fastest) but will bleed out if not rescued in time. The Killer can finish downed Survivors.

Scream Mechanic

Both Survivors and Killers have access to scream-related mechanics. For Killers like Springtrap, Scream is an ability that reveals nearby Survivors. For Survivors, screaming can be used to communicate danger or distract the Killer. Learn more in our How to Scream guide.

Barricades

Survivors can use barricades found around the map to block doorways and corridors, temporarily preventing the Killer from passing through. Barricades have limited durability and the Killer can break through them. Strategic placement is key — block the Killer's path, not your own escape route.

Scraps (Currency)

Scraps are the primary in-game currency earned by completing matches. Both Survivors and Killers earn Scraps based on their performance. Scraps are used to unlock new Killers (The Mimic: 4,500 Scraps, Ennard: 6,000 Scraps) and cosmetics.

VIP Pass

The VIP Pass is a premium Game Pass available for 299 Robux. It provides bonus Scraps earnings and other benefits to speed up progression.
